Non-timber forest products are the subject of increasing numbers of publications, research projects and development initiatives. A great deal of information is also available on the Internet.

Facilitating access

To help make access easier to these resources, we are developing an online database of publications and a directory of Internet links. We have also put together a list of projects and initiatives promoting or researching Scottish non-timber forest products, and a directory of research reports available on the Internet.

NTFPs overseas

Particular interest in non-timber forest products has been shown in developing countries, where they can make a substantial contribution to local economies. The increasing number of NTFP-related research and development initiatives overseas, and corresponding efforts to ensure sustainability, can provide valuable lessons for development of this sector in Scotland.
